Managing Menopause

Some of the GPs specialise in the insertion & removal of Implanon, a low dose contraceptive hormonal implant that lasts 3 years. After counselling we provide a script and book a time. It is a simple procedure. Call reception and enquire about which of the GPs can perform the procedure. 

Doctors are experienced in all aspects of contraception and will provide you with up to date advise regarding the best options for you. 

The IUD Clinic provides Insertion of a range of Intra-Uterine Devices, including hormonal and copper IUDs. 

These provide excellent contraception for up to 5 years and can assist in the management of heavy or painful periods, for management of endometriosis or as part of MRT (Menopause Replacement Therapy)

At Harding Street Medical Centre we understand that the menopause can be a difficult time. 

We can support and advise you through this change of life with care and expert up to date advice.

Your sexual health ranging from risk of infections to regular cervical screening tests is improtant to us.

If you book a double appointment for your CST +/- STI screening we can also do a BP, skin & breast check and assess whether its time to check your bloods or other preventative health screening.

It is an exciting and challenging time when you bring your baby home and we are here to support you. 

The Shared Antenatal Care doctors also offer a 6 week Mother and Baby check. Our nurse can assist your GP with the recommended 6 week immunisations. 


6 week Post Natal Mother and Baby checks must by booked by phone to ensure the nurse is available to assist.

The GP’s have a lovely manner with children and are experienced in all aspects of child health. Many parents bring their babies and children in regularly to be seen by the experienced GPs to monitor their health, growth, feeding, sleeping and development. These can align with the 4, 6, 12 and 18 months immunisations. Or book into our bulk-billed Childhood Immunisation Clinic by calling the clinic.

Shared care is a popular option for women with uncomplicated pregnancies. 

Your pregnancy care can be managed by one of the Antenatal Shared Care doctors in association with your hospital.

We provide shared care together with the Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Northern and Sunshine Hospitals.

Thinking of getting pregnant? We specialise in pre pregnancy planning, lifestyle advice, pre-conception testing, updating of any vaccinations required and advise about supplements. We can address any specific health or genetic conditions that might impact upon your pregnancy.

Iron Infusions

We now offer Iron Infusions on-site. Iron deficiency is the most common form of anaemia and can make you feel tired, dizzy and lacking in mental clarity. An iron infusion is an effective way to help restore your iron levels to normal. The procedure is safe and minimally invasive. If you think you have symptoms of iron deficiency, please talk with your doctor. 

Home Visits

Home visits may be available for regular patients of the clinic who are too ill or elderly to attend the surgery.

 

Visits are also made to local nursing homes and hostels.

 

Please call the clinic as early as possible if you may require a home visit. Only some doctors are available for home visits. There may be out of pocket fees for this service. If your doctor is unable to visit we may assist you to call the locum service.

Immunisations

We believe in preventing illnesses so we offer a wide range of vacciness including Flu, COVID-19, childhood, adolescent, pregnancy, preventative and travel vaccinations. We run Bulk-billed clinics for some of these services.


Travel Immunisations are available after a travel medicine consultation with a doctor. 

Please bring your itinerary and book a double appointment.

Flu Clinics

Flu clinic consultations are bulk billed. People with certain healthcare conditions receive a free flu vaccine. Otherwise the cost is $20 for a quadrivalent flu vaccine. 


Immunisations are also available as part of a general consultation with you doctor. Please advise reception. This is billed as per normal consultations.

Our childhood immunisation clinics are run by a child friendly nurse and a doctor will be present

Our nurses provide a wonderful range of preventative and chronic disease health checks. 

As your partners in health we can help you take control of your health and well-being.

Our health checks may enable medicare support to access Allied Health Services under Ehanced Primary Care Planning which is then reviewed by your Doctor.

GP Mental Health Care 

Your GP and your relationship with them is an important aspect of quality mental health care. We have expertise in diagnosing and treating a range of childhood, adolescant and adult mental health issues. All the GPs have specialised counselling skills. As your partners in mental health we understand the importance of you feeling comfortable and safe to come and talk to us. Please book a double face to face appointment with your GP to be assessed for a mental health plan.

We understand life can be a struggle. Our collabarative team of experienced nurses, GPs, psychologists and OT (both here and in our community) are here to support you and your families emotional well-being.

The availability, fees and appointments are determined and organised by each mental health therapist. 


Mental health plans by your GP will assist medicare rebates, for those who qualify. Private health insurance may assist those who do not qualify.

Psychologist and Mental Health Occupational Therapist Services 

We are delighted to have a range of psychologists and a mental health occupational therepist who can care and support you and your family
